Angle Up

73% of HelpFilm's total referrals came from 2022, demonstrating a growth that far exceeded our targets

  • None of our filmmakers or editors are volunteers, they are professionals and are self employed, with a vast amount of experience. We pay these filmmakers a proper fee for their work once the film is completed and signed off by us and the charity we are working with. When we assign someone to a particular project, we would typically send over their portfolio/website to the charity and have an initial meeting to introduce one another. Whilst also supporting our charity partner, we guide the filmmaker throughout the process, making sure they understand the needs and sensitivities of the charity they are working with.

  • Whilst we offer free short films for charities, we are a registered charity (no. 1189012) and are very open to accepting donations for the work we produce for you, however you are under no obligation to do so.

If you do choose to donate, these donations would be used to support the making of your film and may even enhance our future plans to help other charities. We would be extremely appreciative of a 10% donation of the final cost of the film. This would range from £200 to £500.

We will remind you of this link at the completion of your film, in the hope that you will be in a position to make a small donation.

  • We are extremely proud of the work that we produce and we value all our relationships with our charity partners.

Therefore with this in mind, we will send you an exit questionnaire where we will ask you to send us your feedback about the whole process from start to finish, so that we can improve our services for future projects. We will then contact you after 6 months and a year after the film has been launched, to ask you to kindly share with us your engagement, reach and viewing figures of the video,so that we can use this data for our own impact reports and funding.

Furthermore we will continue to promote and celebrate the work of our charity partners on all our social media channels, and would hope that you will continue to do the same online for HelpFilm in years to come-understanding that all charities are stronger through collaboration and respect of others.

  • We have an online referral form that is sent instantly to our team. If the charity prefers a traditional word document, we also share this if we are emailed directly.

Once the form is completed and it is successful at this stage, we ask the charity to meet with the Creative Engagement Officer to discuss the film idea and the charity in more depth. The details of this meeting, together with the referral form are shared with our whole team and we then decide whether to give the project the ‘green light’.

The charity is then invited to another meeting with our Founder and Creative Engagement Officer, to discuss the details of the film, and to assign a relevant filmmaker.
